BALLET «ORLANDO». WORLD PREMIERE AT THE BOLSHOI

For the first time at the Bolshoi, a production of “Orlando” is being staged by famous German choreographer Christian Spuck, who has been heading the troupe of Ballett Zürich, well noted on the world map of choreography, for almost a decade.

In the foundation of the ballet, the world premiere of which will take place on the New Stage of the Bolshoi Theatre, lies a literary plot. The choice of the source is non-trivial: it is one of the most famous, multi-layered, perhaps, strange novels, which does not however, slip away from a general reader of the feminist writings by Virginia Woolf. It is Orlando (1928).

OPERA «TOSCA» RETURNES TO THE BOLSHOI

One of the world’s most beloved operas is returning to the Bolshoi Theatre after seven years. Famous Italian director (as well as a set designer, costume designer, lighting designer and choreographer) Stefano Poda is working on the new production of Tosca. One of the main principles of the director is the aesthetic and conceptual unity of the performance. In his productions, there is never anything accidental or “out of place” from the overall picture.

The first performance will take place on April 21 and will be conducted by the famous maestro Daniele Callegari.
